Mojgan Nadafi’s Biography
Welcome to my world of midwifery! I’m thrilled to share my journey with you.
I grew up in Iran as the second eldest of six children, and from a young age, I was immersed in the enchanting world of pregnancy and babies through the births of my siblings. It was during my mother’s inspiring home birth when I was just 9 years old that my passion for midwifery was ignited. This transformative experience filled me with curiosity and a deep-seated passion for women’s health, pregnancy, birth, and the miracle of life.
Upon completing high school, I embarked on my midwifery journey by successfully passing the National Midwifery Exam in Iran. This accomplishment opened the door to the prestigious midwifery program at Shiraz University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in midwifery in 1996, followed by a Master’s degree in midwifery in 2003.
For the first decade of my career, I served as a Midwife in South Iran, providing unwavering support to thousands of women throughout their labors, births, and immediate postpartum periods. My experience in high-volume birth centers and hospitals deepened my appreciation for the unique and sacred nature of each pregnancy and birth. In addition to delivering care, I found immense joy in teaching aspiring midwifery and nursing students and engaging in ground-breaking research in women’s health.
In 2006, I ventured to Toronto to join my husband, and in 2007, I embarked on a new chapter by enrolling in the International Midwifery Pre-registration Program (IMPP) at Ryerson University. Since completing IMPP in 2008, I’ve been privileged to work as a Registered Midwife in Toronto, London, Ontario, and currently, in Surrey, BC.

Over my 30 years as a midwife, I’ve had the privilege of practicing in various models, from collaborative to solo, in both urban and rural settings, and across birth centers, hospitals, and home births. I consider it an honor to be part of this sacred journey, and I can’t imagine a more fulfilling vocation.
My passion for teaching finds its home in my role as a clinical instructor for UBC Midwifery students, allowing me to impart knowledge, support growth, and empower the midwives of the future.
Beyond my professional life, I reside in Surrey with my husband and our two wonderful children. When I’m not immersed in midwifery care, I relish precious moments with family and friends, savoring life through music, dance, and leisurely walks.
Thank you for visiting my website, and I look forward to sharing in the incredible journey of pregnancy, birth, and women’s health with you.
