Can I get postpartum midwifery care if I didn't deliver with Mama Midwifery?
Yes. Our postpartum-only stream is open to all Metro Vancouver families regardless of where you delivered — any hospital or any provider.
Is postpartum midwifery care covered by BC MSP?
Yes. All midwifery care — including postpartum-only — is fully insured under BC's Medical Services Plan. Zero out-of-pocket cost for eligible BC residents.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Registered midwives in BC are primary care providers. You can self-refer directly — no doctor's approval needed.
I'm planning a C-section — is postpartum midwifery care still for me?
Absolutely. We have extensive experience supporting C-section recovery — wound care, mobility support, and feeding guidance specific to surgical birth.

With over 30 years of midwifery experience, I've had the privilege of caring for thousands of families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My passion for midwifery began at the age of nine when I witnessed my mother's home birth in Iran—a life-changing experience that inspired my lifelong commitment to supporting women and families.

I hold both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Midwifery from Shiraz University. Before moving to Canada, I practiced for over a decade in hospitals and birth centres in Iran, where I also taught midwifery and nursing students and contributed to women's health research.

After immigrating to Canada in 2006, I completed the International Midwifery Pre-registration Program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). I later moved to Vancouver in 2012 and have been providing comprehensive midwifery care to families across the Lower Mainland ever since. Throughout my career in Canada, I have supported births in homes, hospitals, birth centres, and collaborative care settings.

I am proud to serve as a Clinical Faculty Member in the UBC Midwifery Program and as an educator with Fraser Health, where I teach and mentor future midwives while continuing my commitment to excellence in maternity care.

As the founder of Mama Midwifery, my vision is to provide compassionate, evidence-based, and personalized care through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond.

Greetings! I was born into the hands of a midwife in Switzerland and have always been intrigued by the beautiful memory and experience my parents would fondly recall of my birth.

From a young age I have been passionate about a career in health care, and have always been motivated to improve both the quality and accessibility of care for people from all walks of life. I am originally from the foggy east coast of Canada and graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007. Early into my practice of nursing I held a special interest in well woman care and maternal and infant health and began pursuing midwifery. I graduated from the Metropolitan University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Midwifery in 2011.

I feel my exposure to many areas of our health care system has given me a unique perspective for the humbling and empowering work of midwifery. I hold a special interest in expanded scope midwifery and educating our next generation of amazing midwives to carry the torch! I strive to provide non-judgmental, holistic and individualized care for all birthing persons and their families that I am lucky enough to walk beside on their remarkable journey.

I spent the first several years of my midwifery career practicing in various communities throughout southern Ontario. In the spring of 2023 my partner and I decided we needed an adventure and have recently moved to British Columbia from Hamilton, Ontario. I joined the team at Surrey Mama shortly after moving and work primarily call shifts at Surrey Memorial Hospital. I look forward to meeting you and your family!

I'm a Family Nurse Practitioner with a Master's degree from the University of British Columbia's Nurse Practitioner program. As an independent primary care provider, I assess patients, diagnose and treat health conditions, prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and refer to specialists when needed. My goal is always to provide compassionate, informed, and comprehensive care.

Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I spent 16 years as an educator in the public school system. Eventually, I felt called to pursue a different path and became a Registered Nurse, working in labour and delivery, diabetes management, pediatrics, and emergency care. These experiences deepened my passion for working with pregnant individuals, newborns, and young families — a passion I carry into my role at Mama Midwifery.

At Mama, I love the opportunity to follow clients through pregnancy and into the postpartum period, building lasting connections and supporting them during such a meaningful time. In addition to my work here, I also manage a full panel of patients in a busy primary care practice, caring for people of all ages and stages of life.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, skiing, camping, gardening, reading, traveling, and doing DIY projects around the house. I'm a proud mom to two young adults and spend most of my free time outdoors with my husband and our labradoodle, Finley.

Hello, I'm Prab, a Nurse Practitioner at Mama Midwifery. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and went on to earn my Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner from the University of British Columbia (UBC).

With over 12 years of experience working with prenatal and postpartum clients, I am deeply passionate about women's health and dedicated to supporting individuals and families during one of the most important times in their lives. My education and clinical experience have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide thoughtful, comprehensive, and evidence-based care through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

I believe in building strong, trusting relationships and offering care that is compassionate, inclusive, and centered around each patient's unique needs and values. My goal is to ensure that every person I care for feels informed, supported, and empowered on their journey to parenthood.

Wonderful experience with this team from day one. Beautiful, clean space, and reception is on top of scheduling and making sure all appointments are booked appropriately. Resources available through the clinic are great — whether it be acupuncture, specialist referrals, and tools and tips to support you at each stage of pregnancy and postpartum. The midwives and nurse practitioners are diligent and very knowledgeable. I really appreciated being sent to the FBU to be further evaluated for excessive swelling even though my BP and baby's heart rate were normal — it just goes to show they would rather err on the side of caution and excellent care. My labour and delivery were handled with professionalism and much-needed expertise given the complications I was experiencing, and the midwives collaborated well with the hospital specialists. Postpartum care exceeded my expectations, with a home visit to accommodate my surgical recovery. As first-time parents, we found the follow-up appointments with baby instrumental in adjusting and with breastfeeding challenges. I'm so glad I chose this team for my perinatal care.
